XLT Seat Buttons

Does anyone know if the XLT had 2 or 3 of the seat buttons on the back ? i bought a pair and the seller said 2 is all they came with but I think it was 3. mine were gone when I bought the pickup.

If it does take 3 I need another, or a set if need be if anyone has any to sell. color doesn't matter I can change that.

From what I’ve seen online it seems like there were 3. You’re talking the rectangular buttons 3/4 way up the backrest, right?

I am looking for a pic of my blue trucks seat. I am not able to go actually look at it at the moment. I think I remember 3....? I know 4 for the head liner.

are those the same buttons ? they sure look the same. I may have to search the internet again for headliner buttons.

I think they're the same , same style for sure but not sure about the size.

My '76 XLT has the original headliner and it has no buttons. that must be a 78-79 thing I guess ?

I know the seat I put in my blue 78 came from an all very original 2wd 73 and had the buttons. The seat was like brand new when I pulled it out of the truck. I was amazed at it condition. I also got the XLT door panels with the white vinyl overlay. I also know that those headliners came from 79's.

Those are 78-79 Ranger Lariat headliners, not XLT headliners.

Is that because they have the chrome piece around the button and the XLT has the solid color buttons? School me.

I guess I should clarify a little.
There was, in 1977, the Ranger XLT "Luxury" package that did come with that style of headliner, with the buttons. Seems to be a very rare option, I've seen 2 in decades. I never noticed if they had chrome trimmed buttons or not. The no chrome button headliners could be from one of those.

The 78-79 Ranger Lariat used the padded headliner with the chrome trimmed buttons, at least everyone that I've seen. The Lariat seemed to be more popular than the Luxury, but is still uncommon.

440sixpack has 76 Ranger XLT, which didn't use the padded headliner with buttons. They used a color keyed vinyl covered headliner with fake stitched lines about 1 1/2" apart.

The various model year truck brochures have a lot of information & pictures on the different interior options, but may not go in to enough detail to solve the chrome Vs no chrome button mystery.
