I have a 66 f-250 4x4 and sometimes when I tow either of two trailers that I own after 20 minutes or so the lights start blinking off and on and then turn off. This only happens when towing occassionally. I've replaced the switch several times. The switch must be getting hot from......?
A relay system sounds like a great idea. Is there a tech article on the conversion? When you say flickering lights are you refering to the way the lights dim at idle? My lights do this but sometimes when towing my trailer my lights go totally out while driving down the road at 55. I think the breaker in the headlight switch is getting overheated for some reason.
No flickering lights happens when the breaker in the headlight switch keeps breaking contact thus causing a flicker.
The reason the headlights dim at idle is because the volktage reg doesn't kick in until abou 750-800 rpm.
Putting the relays in should get rid of that problem depending on connections.
