Oil pump varieties
Trying to determine differences and best application for the 5.4 3v.
#1- melling 10341 oil pump
#2- melling m360hv
#3- melling m340hv
#4- melling m340/360 non hi
Which one ?

What's the primary differences?
What's the purpose of all the different pumps? Why not use m340hv or the m10341 ? I even saw a different pump that sold for over 5oo bucks, why ford didn't just put the correct pump in to start off with?

Why Brian of FTM used the M360HV instead of the 10341, I don't know. Maybe dimensions, price or availability at that time. It appears the 10341 case is reinforced. Maybe better suited for heavy duty or race applications.
