C8000

I Need a VIN Decode for a C8000 Airport Service truck most likely Ex Nato . I'm trying to get it registered in the UK . I really need this confirmed by Ford Commercial Vehicles USA . Is that a thing ? I did find a VIN decode that worked that gave me most of the information but the one on this site says vehicle not recognised . Do Ford Issue build date confirmation paperwork even for a fee . Its all pointing to it being a 1990 truck . 1FDXD80U3LVAZ28253 . Any help in which way to go would be appreciated .

MODERATOR NOTE: This VIN is wrong, see the picture of the tag in the other post.

That VIN isn't working on the various 17 digit decoders available on line that I could find. ( mod note: See post 2, wrong vin.)

As for more particulars, try this:

https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm

If you are trying to get confirmation that it was a NATO vehicle, the report may indicate it was sold to the US government.

Ford USA. You can contact them but I doubt you'll get much from them on a 31 year old vehicle.

OP posted in two forums, merged here to provide more info.

VIN 1FDXD80U3LVA28253

From this and the picture you posted, I find it's a '90 C8000 with a Cat 3208 and air brakes, sold as an incomplete vehicle.

https://driving-tests.org/vin-decoder/

https://vincheck.info/check/vehicle-specification.php

It has a District Code and Special order code.

District 23 is Memphis. If it had been sold directly to the government, the District Code would be 83. (Master Parts Catalog)
The special order code might be something Marti could help with..

Your other tag seems to be a US Government tag, and it shows that it is an " ...elevating with van body" truck. That equipment would have been added after Ford sold the truck. So the government probably bought it from the equipment maker.

Best I can do.

What a dummy I dont know why I did that . The correct 1FDXD80U3LVA28253 will decode on a few sites but not the decoder on this forum . Would a Ford commercial truck dealership have access to any info ? Its a shame 1990 is now considered old . I have always been impressed how the U.S seem to run trucks for years . Its a right pain in the butt to get this registered in the UK without a genuine proof of age from the manufacturer .

The tags in your pictures have the date of manufacture and the date in service.

The three tags to the right in the photo give all of the info pertaining to when the truck was built.

Your right but our stupid vehicle registration service won't accept that as proof of age . They say the tags may not be real . The only other way is to get a representative of an owners club to verify the age . Owners Club ????? WTF I expect there are only 2 or 3 of these trucks in the UK . The only other proof they will accept is a certificate from Ford with proof of age

The VIN has identifying info and the sequence numbers which indicate the model year.

Ford Motor's website has several ways to contact them.

Ford are not helping Its impossible to talk to anybody . I have signed up to their site and the vin decoder will recognise my truck but when the operative puts it in the decoder they are using over the phone it draws a blank . All I need is a direct link for ford to confirm age and I can get the truck registered in the UK . Has anybody got a friendly contact in a dealership . Ford USA say I must contact Ford UK . Ford UK say I must contact Ford USA . So I'm a bit F#CKED at the moment

I talked to the parts guy at my local Ford dealer. He can't access it, but said a commercial truck dealer should be able to access it. They can see, and probably print, all the VIN info, which will include model year. What format and form that would take is a question.

Are you currently in the UK or US?

What is the prior registration on this thing? Or was it US Government? What does the title say?

Do these larger trucks not have the vin number stamped into the frame also? If so, it would seem an actual Ford vin tag, a body builder tag, and a stamped frame vin number would be enough for anybody.
