Hi,
While I usually post on this site about my '65 F250, I've been looking lately for a '21 Lariat Hybrid Super Crew 6.5' bed with the 7.2kW power, max tow package, and no moonroof to replace my 2014 Tundra. Needless to say, it will probably be a special order. I've been waiting for the past couple of months to see if anything close to that configuration comes into stock so I can at least test drive, but so far it's been slim pickings. Today, I emailed one of the local dealers when I saw that they had something close (short box, with moonroof, not the full generator capacity), and asked to schedule a test drive. The response:
Hello:
Ford has not released a date to us for a fleet of hybrids, however they did send us one vehicle. I spoke with management and this one is not going to be allowed for test drives. It would need to be purchased. They do this because we only have one. Sorry we are not able to get all the information you are looking for, whatever Ford direct gives us Is what we go by. As far as a date to expect delivery of more trucks, we do not know.
Best Regards,
This seems like a strange policy, but whatever. It seems like no one from any of the local dealers (west of Boston) is interested in selling me one of these trucks. They seem miffed when I ask them to let me know when they get one in stock. They don't seem to want to respond to emails. The idea of a special order attracts limited enthusiasm. You'd think they'd be chomping at the bit to sell me a fancy truck, but they seem completely disinterested. Meanwhile, I am checking the inventory on various websites and at various dealers all the time.
Is there something else going on here? Is the hybrid really not available? Is a dealer really unlikely to want to place a special order for me?
Thanks for any insights as to what's going on, both with the status of the hybrid's availability and the lackluster dealer response. Maybe this isn't the same in other parts of the country.

I ordered my Powerboost truck 0n Jan 29th, I got an email on Saturday that its scheduled to build the week of 03/08 so Im guessing they're building. Hope this helps. A dealer in Brandon Fl seems to have 4 Platinums on the lot although I haven't been to see.

I traded in my 2018 Lariat 5.0 today for a 2021 Lariat Hybrid with the 7.2 kw and the 501A package. My dealer had over 70 F150' of many versions but only one hybrid. I am in Pittsburgh, Pa.
My '21 Platinum Supercrew 4x4 hybrid with 7.2kw generator, no moonroof, 6.5' bed is on a train currently, delivers to dealer 22MAR. Not sure if it's something specific to your trim, but your dealer sounds out of touch!
I ordered my truck 1/29 and was told a couple of weeks later it was scheduled to be built week 3/8. I recently got the VIN and entered it into the tracker. It just show the order date nothing more. When should I expect to see progress? Does the dealer have a different tracker than the one I have?

Mine was strange, it was Ordered On 1/6/2021.. Then it was scheduled for Prod 2/21/2021. It *never* had a date for "Built' or 'Shipped' as of yet, but delivery is estimated for 3/20/2021. Dealer confirmed its on a train.. i have no idea why there is no date for built or shipped.
Saw that world wide Chip shortage is causing production delays and build up of unfinished Pickups/vehicles sitting in storage waiting to pop in the Puters 2 !
Only a bean counter knows if Turkey or China are in that Mix, even India is getting a R?ussian deal look at !
Well, a couple of weeks ago, after getting continuously zero responsiveness from any of the dealers near Boston, I called a dealer in Vermont that is near my dad's house. I had the truck spec'd out and ordered over the phone in a matter of minutes. However, there's no telling now when it might show up due to factory shutdowns and chip shortages, but at least I got through the first hurdle of placing an order without being told to get lost! We'll see what happens. Meanwhile, they offered me a test drive in the new MachE Mustang, which was pretty fun, I have to say.
Picked up my custom ordered 2021 Rapid Red - PB - XLT 302A FX4 Sport with 7.2Kw pro power and just recently added 2" level kit, 295/60R20 Toyo AT3's on the stock 20's. Runs like a dream!
Gotta have one ! Maybe 2022 will be a better year and availability will soar. It meets my weekend mileage of 600 miles ! Love that power supply for a contractor saw and air compressor needs for my crews.
