So back to the wheels and tires. Does anyone with a 250 have anything similar to what we are wanting to do? I work away for a month at a time, otherwise I would measure everything myself. I’m looking to get the wheels ordered and have them at home when I get there.
Basically, im wanting to know what offset I need for a 9” wide wheel in the back, and a 7 or 8 in the front. 5.0”,4.5”, or 4.25? I hear that there is tie rod clearance issues so want to make sure on the front. And also trying to go 275 or 285 on the back.
I’ve done a lot of searching, but there isn’t a whole bunch on 250’s.
thanks

So after searching and searching, I have come up with 8” for the back and 7” for the front. The rears are 16x8 with 4.25” backspace, the fronts are 16x7 with 4” backspace. please, if it’s possible, can someone confirm this is good? I need to get them ordered, and I’m not there to measure.
the tires will be 245/70r16 in the front, and 265/70r16 in the back. Should have all kinds of room I hope. I see lots of f100’s with wheels and tires but limited 250’s so I’m finding it hard to get it nailed down.
thanks
Clarence
I have one tire/wheel off my 1968 F250 4X2. Wheel appears to be 8" wide with 4" backspacing. Best I can tell with the LT265/75R16 tire still on it. Looks good in the rear but too big O.D. for the front.
Well, I was back home for a week and got some more done on the truck. We finished welding in the pans, and then mounted the cab with the mounts held in place with vice grips. Marked all our spots and made a few adjustments here and there. Then painted the mounts and area with POR15 and welded it all together. We then degreased, pressure washed, and etched it and my wife and son will paint the bottom while I’m gone. It was a good week of getting stuff done, and now he can start to get it back together. We just need to find a complete bolt set for the front.
clarence Welded all over Son painting the mounts
Making progress! My wife got involved and painted the whole underside of the cab, inner fender aprons, and frame! I’m away at work so she stepped in while the son went out celebrating!! Thank god for moms. After the cab goes back on, it will be on to the rear axle as it needs seals. And we will totally rebuild the rear brakes at the same time.
coming together!
Well, making more progress. Son put the cab back on tonight. Lookin better!! He wasn’t there when I took all the linkages and wiring off so he’s having a bit of a struggle but we have been FaceTiming to try work through it.
Well, truck is coming along. Got the cab on, wiring done and all the lights working. Had to put new sockets in the front as they were corroded beyond repair. Got a new fuel pump on, and runs good. Rebuilt the carb, and have new tires, just waiting on wheels. Pulled the box off to get at cab corners, and rebuild the rear axle brakes, and to paint the frame.
Think a guy could put closed cell spray foam in the cab corners to keep moisture out? It’s water proof in house use. Use a low expansion kind for windows and doors.
Made a little progress today. It’s not as nice as I pictured it to be in my head! But it will close it off like it’s supposed to. Will have to trim off the excess after it’s welded in.
