First Forscan Experience

So, I've had the Forscan program (2.3.38) and a bluetooth adapter for awhile now and decided to play around with it yesterday. I have a 2018 Ford F250 XLT with a 6.7 that I use to tow our 5th wheel and a sort-of-daily driver. Right now, the only changes I'm interested in is changing the tire size and enabling the global window close option. I just had a few questions after messing around yesterday. I'm currently on the 2 week trial extended license.

1. When I connect the adapter to Forscan, it picks up the VIN data and asks if I want to load it. I click Yes and it loads the modules, but it seems like it doesn't load them all. I don't have the DDM, PDM, or the IPC module. Would this be due to the adapter that I'm using? It's an adapter that I had from a previous vehicle and I'm thinking it may not meet all the requirements. I have ordered the OBDLink EX which should get here tomorrow.

2. When I open each of the modules, I don't get the lines that the spreadsheet shows needs modifying. I get more of a selection option. For example on the global window options, I can select Disabled, Both, Remote, or *something else, I can't remember* one for each- open & close. I don't see the lines 726-17-01, 726-17-02, etc. Possibly another result of the adapter?

3. This is more for clarification. I've seen modification of both depending on the forum/article that I read. Do we modify the "As Built" module or the other one? What's the difference between the two? I've looked around and can't really find a concrete answer. I changed the tire circumference of the Non-"As Built" BCM and I had to select the largest option on the Tire Size option because 285/75/18 wasn't available. I did receive a fault that was cleared by the relearn process. I'm not sure it worked because I haven't taken it anywhere to test yet.

Thanks in advance for any info. I'll check again when the adapter comes in tomorrow if it's still light outside.

welcome to the ForScan world
A question to start off
What adapter do you currently have?
Since you have ordered the EX that may not be an issue.
when you get your adapter be sure to update the firmware first off.

The different areas you are looking at are referred to plain English (menu drop down selections) and AsBuilt (spreadsheet values)
Please before you make any changes backup your modules.

On tire size before making changes figure out your speedo error against a GPS once you have that dialing it in is easy. Change it back to stock and note the stock value in the tire size Circumference. Future changes are based off that number.

I would take a few minutes and read over the ForScan guides listed in the ForScan sticky it has a bunch of information.

Probably your adapter doesn't support CAN or has a manual switch that you need to move is why you can't see all the modules.

Thanks, Zoodad. It's a
Panlong Panlong
adapter that we used on our old truck with Torque Pro. It seems to read OK on Forscan, but I'm not sure it's actually wrting back. I'm waiting until the ODBLink comes in before trying anything else.

I did read on another site that the Non-AsBuilt gets you to the Plain English option and the AsBuilt takes you to the Line item option. I'll check tomorrow. I'll take a harder look at the Forscan guides in the Stickies since I won't be doing anything today.
