Can I put a E40D on an engine stand?
Pulled the 5.8 & E40D out of the donor and have the engine on a stand. I have another engine stand and was going to put the transmission on it so I can clean it up and service the filter/etc. I have put C6s on stands before but this overdrive is huge (long/heavy). I wasn't going to remove the converter,,,nothing leaking so didn't want to disturb it. I was concerned that because of the weight/length, it might bust the ears on the bell housing. I have the standard 4 arm stand. Will the trans be OK on that? It is sure easier to work on than rolling around on the floor. Thanks in advance.

The ears are for holding it vertical on the assembly line. You can make a Y for your stand & it should be OK.
Lots of operations are done best with gravity on your side.
Most dedicated trans shops I've experienced work on a metal table
Edit, I wouldn't bolt that monster up horizontally, surprised you could do it with a C-6.
