Nothing better for operational safety than vehicles having games and video playing in view of the operator.
Don't fall into the trap of blaming the tool/thing for bad human decisions. The last thing we need is more regulation because people misuse something.
I specifically found a truck without navi because I didn't want to pay the 1k for it, I'll never use it since google maps or waze is lightyears better. That being said it would have increased my resale value. So either way I suppose.
I skipped the factory NAV because I knew I was going aftermarket anyways. Why pay for it twice was my thought. Threw in a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX. Cost with install kits was cheaper than the factory option, and it is a better system IMO. I can also watch TV, DVDs, play video games, use it in motion, and a host of other features...

No worries. This is already illegal.
The Virginia 46.2-1077 Statute already prohibits moving video displays in view of the driver. Many / most states also have similar prohibitions.
The manufacturers of aftermarket head units w/ moving video capability has already Idiot Proofed their devices by including a wire for connection to the parking brake that disables video during motion.
According to that Pioneer Installation Manual: "WARNING Do not take any steps to disable the parking brake interlock system which is in place for your protection. Tampering with or disabling the parking brake interlock system could result in serious injury or death."

Yeah, I also don't own any guns because I could just decide to up and shoot myself for the heck of it too...
My truck can go over 90mph, yet you aren't hounding me for driving 90 in a residential school zone...
Just because I can do something doesn't mean I choose to do it.
Note the commas in my post. I have an accident-free driving record thank you. My comment of "use it in motion" was referencing more towards using the navigation side of it anyways, and not playing video games on the interstate.

You don't know much about the aftermarket units do you? All I had to do was touch a specific spot on my screen for 5-10 seconds, and video-in-motion is unlocked permanently. I don't even have the parking brake wire hooked up.
Not to mention the hundreds of $10 kits that can fool that parking brake wire anyways...
I ordered Navigation since we have the multi camera setup. In all honesty my iPhone gives better directions by voice. Fords Navigation works well if you type in an address, otherwise it's spotty at best. I live in the Los Angels area so maybe just too many choices for voice with the Sync system.
Note, they are now offering a limited time $100000 old module buy back...
Ordered the module for my truck so I don't lose the $100 old module buy back offer. (my keyboard gets funny when the battery gets low) My truck is built and will be at the dealership in weeks.
Nav system not that great. Wish they would have let me opt out of it and still get the other options. An expensive option, and I still use google maps on my phone instead of the NAV. The only time it can really find something is if you know the address and put it in.
