Fuel lines

Wondered if anyone can help with my query about the fuel line between the fuel tank (under bench seat) and the firewall flex hose. Looking at the tank, it looks like the tank take off drops out the bottom of the tank and runs forward to the firewall. If that is correct I’m concerned about bits in the tank always being sucked thru. Should there be an upstand Inside the tank?
Its been suggested for me to fit a good quality in line filter. Where is the best location?
Appreciate any guidance.

It used a partial gravity feed to get it moving towards the engine. I've always seen the in line filter close to the carb where you can see inside (clear obviously) and change easily when needed.

Half ton pickup 1945

Thanks for the reply. I will just drop out the bottom of the tank and run forward slightly down hill before it turns up at firewall. The tank has been refurbished so no junk inside.

If using the orig type fuel pump, its got a very fine screen above the sediment bowl.

Yes it does have that and I’m keen not to restrict the fuel flow. If I fit a filter I will need to select carefully.

I use a paper filter in the fuel pump bowl.
