The Modular "front main" seal tool

If anyone's ever used the actual OTC tool for the front main, ie the 303-635, you know it's exorbitantly expensive at ~$254 new. Ebay seems to support a secondary market at ~$85, which certainly is more reasonable, but this thing is just STEEL (granted, a high carbon tool steel I'm sure) and it's roughly 2.5" OD x 2.5" long.

I was loaned one and decided to reverse engineer (that's the Chicom term for "copy") it for myself. Note I'm not saying this makes sense financially. I WANTED to do it because it's FUN for me. I'm a guy and I ENJOY building things with my hands...well, and some machine tools.

Nice job replicating the tool.

When repairing autos on a budget, and for certain working on my dad's farm equipment on a budget/time crunch, being a machinist has been a huge blessing.

Well, because it's exciting and everyone cares: I got to use this the other day on a 3.5 NA in an Edge/CX9 which uses the same front main seal.

There's no key on these cranks but one nice thing about the tool is that it mimics the balancer on the ID of the seal making it nearly impossible for the spring to pop out of place while pounding.
