I have them on my '76 and they work fine, an FE of course but it should still be the same as far as clearance.
My left pipe crosses to the right side of the transfer case under the crossmember ahead of 2 48" glass packs side by side then the tail pipes split to behind both real wheels . it sounds great and I have no fitment issues.
There is a custom header made for high boys specifically though I don't see the need. I don't remember their name but they have a website.
