My key won’t turn the tumbler on my 17 F350. Tried both keys and neither will turn the tumbler so I can start the truck. Remote start works and that’s it. The steering wheel won’t lock. I’ve disconnected the positive side on battery and waited then hooked it back up and still nothing. I’m right under 75k miles
Sounds like the pin lock for the steering wheel snapped and is stuck in the lock mechanism. You most likely will have to open the steering housing and check the out the pin that locks the steering wheel. Remember when you have the steering wheel turned tight and you try to start the truck you have to turn the wheel to relive the tension on the key before you can turn it? It might have snapped and locked the key. I don’t think you have worn out your key yet, unless you start the truck more than 50 time a day.
Good luck

The only time I've seen anything like this on a newer vehicle, the steering wheel was turned to the "locked" position and had a load on it, so you had to turn the wheel slightly to get the load off and the key to turn and unlock the wheel. You're saying the steering wheel won't lock though, which doesn't make any sense if you can't get the key to turn.
The problem might be related to temperature, with single digits in Beatrice, Nebraska.
**** I’ve had this truck in -66 in Minnesota and -34 in Montana for extended periods and never had this issue. I guess taking apart the steering the column is next
