Removing Window Tint GLUE

Removing Window Tint GLUE
OK guys, here's the story. Yesterday I went to get my truck inspected but they told me it wouldn't pass inspection with the tint it had on it. So they told me they would inspect it if I removed the tint, so they handed me a razor and told me if I wanted to I could peel it off right there, so I did, and I passed. Now There is glue stuck to both side windows and I've tried everything to remove the stuff including: Acetone, Paint Thinner, Rubbing alcohol, 409, and a razor. So far the razor has worked best but it's going to take me all day if I continue with the razor. Any tinting guys here that know how to remove this stuff easily?
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks'

Amonia is'nt that bad just make sure the area is well ventilated and maybe googles if you want the stuff will make your eyes water. Pour the amonia in a spray bottle and spray it on the window, Let it set a few minutes and the glue will get gooey. Then take a razor blade and scoop it off.

I was told ammonia by the tint installer many years back; I had to remove mine for the same reason as you ... wouldn't pass inspection (had moved to different state).
I tried ammonia first, but wound up buying a $5 box of single edged razor blades and a GOOD scraper .. then just used elbow grease. Changed the blades as often as needed.
Spray ammonia may work for you if you keep the glue saturated, but it just seemed less hazardous to me to use the blades.
Good luck!

Well, I got most of it off, except for around the edges. Those areas are hard to get to with the razor. At first I was just using the razor, dry peeling it off, then I tried using the 409 and the razor at the same time. MUCH easier on my fingers. The 409 made the glass slick and cut down my work by 50%. Now I need some ammonia to get the corners clean.
Thanks 4 the tips,

Sorry I did not read this a couple days ago. I have owned a tint shop since the 80's. We do about 500 cars a year.
The answer is so simple you won't believe it.... soapy water. The adhesive on all brands of tint is water activated during the installation process. The best and easiest way to get it off..... re-activate the adhesive. Get a plant sprayer bottle, fill with water, about 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap. Shake and spray liberally on the glass with adhesive. Let is sit about 10 minutes spraying every 2-3 minutes in between. It will get white or cloudy as it re-activates. Take a good clean and sharp 1" razor blade and scrape top to bottom. It will come right off. If it is hard to get off, keep spraying another 5 minutes.
