I wonder why they give you access to part of it where those torx screws are?
Good question, maybe for inspection to see if anything is clogged, I really don't know. I've seen pictures here on the forum of that lid removed, nothing you could really do in there.
Do the sealed ccv boxes have a filter element in it, making the entire unit disposable and replacement is with a new sealed unit?
No, there is no filter element inside. The sealed units last a lot longer but as with even the serviceable units if you prolong oil changes they will get gunked up and cause problems. Havnt had any issue with them here but the trucks I service get turned over by 100,000mi so no long term experience outside of about three trucks that are higher mileage but stay on an 8k oil change interval.
Lots of videos out there on clogged CCV filters causing oil leaks. One of these days I'll pull the cover off mine and take a look. I have a mishimoto catch can but I don't want to install it until warranty is out.
I read something about replacing the CCV on our 2016 with the CCV off a 2023.
Is the 2023 serviceable?
Were the older CCVs serviceable?
ON the older vehicles, Did Ford change to the nonserviceable units to save a couple bucks?
Or was there actually a reason why?
I need to change the CCV on our 2016 Platinum.
I'm not going to delete the CCV or run it to open air.
I wish to maintain the vacuum in the crankcase.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
same filter as the 17-19s, just buy the non serviceable filter (box with no bolts) and install.
also, I don’t think the 2022s will fit on pre 2020 trucks as slight changes happened as the 20+ is the 3rd gen 6.7L, box is really narrow and not real long.

The 202O+ CCV boxes are compatible with the 17-19's, that has been verified. Not sure about the 11-16. Also, the 11-16 has a sensor of some sort on the CCV hose that isn't there on the 17+.
I just swapped my filtered into to a sealed unit today. Took about 30 minutes with absolutely no problems. I wasn’t having any issues or leaks, simply focused on avoiding having them down the road.
So do the sealed non serviceable boxes actually need to be changed out or not since they don't actually have a filter just baffles. I am reading conflicting arguments. I am pretty sure I have an oil leak coming from the upper oil pan gasket. Seems to be up somewhere above the starter. I was thinking of changing this out to see if it slows it down at all. Thoughts?

They (11-19) do have small ports inside that can, and probably will clog over time. How long that takes, no one knows.

Getting rid of the CCV box altogether was one of the best things I've done. I swear the engine runs smoother/quieter now. Maybe it's placebo...but I swear it just purrs now. What definitely is true is that my engine oil stays clean longer and I can pull the dipstick right now and I bet it's still honey colored. And, the kit I bought was less than half the price of a Ford OE CCV box.
