Mileage while towing

I'm driving a 2019 F250 4x4 with 3.73 rear end. My travel trailer loaded weighs about 7400lbs. When towing on flat open road I'm usually doing 65 MPH and getting 7.4 MPG. Also I'm usually in 5th gear. What are others getting for mileage? Details please.

20 F250 6.2 3.73. Get about the same pulling a camper that heavy. Maybe low 8s.

Our trailer is about 8600 loaded. TV is '19 F-250 with 6.2L, 4x4 w/4.30 gears. We usually cruise around 62 and on the flats with no wind will see just over 9mpg on average. We've seen in the upper 7's to low 8's in hilly terrain or head winds and upwards of 13+ with a good tail wind.

When I had a 6.2, my travel trailer is right about 7k lbs, I was seeing anywhere between 7.5-10 MPG and that was generally towing through New England (hilly terrain but no altitude issues like you'd get when towing through the Rockies). My '18 6.2, same trailer, same driver, was consistently higher and never saw anything below 8.5. The tranny in the '18 seemed to do a little better than the one in my '19, no idea why.

I'm driving a different animal than your 6.2s and 6 speeds, an '05 Excursion with a 2V V-10 and 4R100 4 speed trans. TT is 41' long and scales at just a tick under 12K lbs, towing in OD we typically get 8-9 MPG at 65 MPH on mostly highway trips with a best of 3 trips at 9.5 MPG. Trips on surface roads with small towns and stop and go will bring the mileage down to the 7 MPG range. The big wagon rides on 35"s with 4.88 gears for an effective 4.39 ratio, deeper gears will net you better towing MPGs. Back when the EX was still on the stock 31.6" tires and 3.73 gears we towed a 31' long TH scaled at 9,500lbs and that combo gave 6-7.5 MPG at 65 MPH on the highway trips. With a change to the deeper 4.88 gears only the next trip over the same route at the same speed and weight we got 9 MPG.

My setup last summer was a 2016 f250 6.2 with 3.73s pulling a 34ft tt. Combined total weight was 15-16k if i remember right. I average 8.5-8.9 across PA which isnt flat but not the rockies. I also had intake, exhaust and 5 star 93 tune with that setup. Looking forward to see how the truck does this summer with the new gears, headers and custom tune.

2019 F250 4x4 6.2L 3.73 gears, usually will pull my 8.5 x 22 ft trailer on level ground at low altitude in 6th with occasional use of 5th going 65 or 70 mph getting 8.4 mpg. Not sure what the trailer weighs.

2017 F-350 CCLB 6.7L 4x4, 11k bumper pull toy hauler. About 9.8 MPG. I'll drive 70 MPH on straight open roads, slower through the mountains. Almost every trip involves at least one mountain pass over 10,000' elevation.

Prior to my Excursion I towed with an '88 E250 7.3 IDI c6/3.54 gears. Towed an old 30' Dutchman weighing about 8000lbs. I would get 10-13mpg at 60-65mph

A young man went into a Cadillac dealership and was sitting in the show room cars and looking over, under and around each one. An old salesman came over to the young man. The young man had studied the brochures and had several questions. The old salesman, in a very business like manner, answered each question. It appeared that the young man had run out of questions and the conversation lagged... Then he said "Just one more question"... Sure said the old salesman. The young man asked "How many miles to the gallon does this Cadillac get?".... In a very quiet tone the old man answered "Son, if you are worried about the miles per gallon.... You can't afford this Cadillac".....

My 03 6.0L has been getting a steady 10 MPG towing a 13,000 lb 5th wheel. I can live with that.

I pull an Outback 335CG weighing in about 9.5k with a 12 F250 6.2l w 4.30 gears. Really depends on wind conditions more than anything. Can be 9-9.5 no/minimal wind to 7-7.5 stronger headwind. I'll run anywhere from 60-70mph depending on the winds.
