Plow and ballast
I retrofitted braces made of 8' long 2x4, lag bolted into the 2x12 ends of the box. They run right up tight up against the front wall of the bed. This matches the recommended setup in the Fisher plow owner's manual.
Then I put a 1/2 lag eye bolt into the back wall and ran some stout 5/8" poly rope through it up to the tide down brackets in the front corners of the bed and tied it off taunt. This way I'm not 100% dependent on the tail gate latches to keep it from flying out the rear end.
I'm looking for a way to lash it down with ratchet straps, but the back corner tie down points are not well placed to do so....
I've used a 5' snow blower mounted to the 3-pt hitch on the tractor for the last 22 years, but I'm getting weary of freezing my butt off and having clouds of snow blow back in my face. My lovely wife had pitty on me and we bought the F250 this past spring... then I sold my beater truck, which was a '78 GMC DRW 2WD 1-ton dump bed. I know I'm really going to miss the dump bed, but sipping a hot coffee and listening to my play list in the heated truck cab while I plow is a big quality of life upgrade.
