I am restoring a 1960 Ford F-100, and a couple of years ago a friend of mine said he had a hood for it, which I bought. Well, it isn't a 1960, I found that out yesterday when I examined it closely for the first time.
I suspect it's an early to mid '60's F-100 hood. There are no open cowling vents in front like the '60 and it has seven ribs running the length of the hood on a raised section.
Look at the pics in my gallery, you should be able to see if it looks like my 63 hood . I believe that 61-66 are pretty much the same.
Does it look like mine?
Nice ride you have there. It looks like you have a raised section - a crease - right down the middle of the hood, and only there. The hood that I have is raised about 3/4 of the entire hood, and seven distinct lines are visible. Any ideas?
The raised portion of the hood is very close to what your picture above shows. However, there are no ribs in the picture. Moreover is the Ford lettering...your picture spells out the name, mine has the older emblem in front (the lightning bolt through the gear).
When I say "rib" I may be misleading you. It's probably better to visualize looking at the closed hood from the front bumper to the windshield. They're actually channels -seven of them - that a guy could put a marble on and roll it down to the windshield.
What year pickup was that that you last posted? It's too new IMO.
That was a 67.
Look thru the galleries. Click on year at the top of the column. Then click on last at the bottom. Work your way backwards and look at the trucks. I am thinking around 58 maybe??
Let me know what you find.
