This would be a great addition to an already excellent site. What would make this more interesting would be an open discussion of what the competition does better than Ford. While Ford is the best, it can't possibly be doing everything right, so it would be interesting to hear how the competition deals with challenges (design, service, parts, dealer network, etc.).

I think it's a terrible idea.

1st - I recall all the heated name calling, bashing and trashing that went on when you had it open before. It just seemed to invite trouble from non-site frequenters and bring out the worst in the good people of this site.

2nd - Once you get an unwanted in that forum (like you had before), that guy goes to all the other forums to try and spark someone's fires.

The reason's , Carlene has already touched on some of them.

I don't know how many people here visit the newsgroups , but there is so much discontent there by IMMATURE people that it could also find its way here.

I have personally driven practically every kind of North American car/truck there is. Plus,British,German,Italian,Swedish,French,Japanes e,Russian vehicle too.
There are lots I like and there are lots I don't like.
It will always be that way.

The fact I found FTE "Being about FORD'S & their Enthiusiast's" was a
a breath of fresh air.If Joan Rivers were here, I think she would say:"Can we talk....about Ford's"?

Debates are good,I find them best at NEW Car/Truck shows,Cruise nights and classic Truck/Car shows & even at swap meets.

They are a hands on/eyes on, discussion media ,a GREAT place for people with different interests in make and models to debate automotive technology.

And that folk's is how I see it.

Plus,sometimes it get tough putting out ALL the fires.

Although, If Ken decides to bring it back, I'll do what I have to do to maintain order or respect for each other.

It'll be fun for all, we can learn a little about their stuff, and they can learn something about us. If we (FTE users) set the example as a rational, results oriented talk, then even if they (the competition) starts the name calling then they'll sound really stupid if everbody else is acting like adults.

*Summary* If we all act like adults, then anyone that starts childish comments and name calling will stand out as the idiot trash talker that they are, and will retire from the forum in shame. TK

TK - I believe you've proven my point in the "Tailgating" thread. Some of the words you used in that thread could be taken the wrong way by someone else and there you go - another name-calling, over-reactive, heated online argument rather than a discussion. Add a Non-Ford enthusiast to the mix and things get real ugly.

Point taken eagerly, Carlene, but I'd still like to get my hands on some non-Ford tech without ever leaving the comfort of our home at FTE. You gotta know the enemy, right? If there is any factual representation of people's debates, then it could be good for all of us to get a peek at the dark side of Motorsports.
