I might look into that. im not the most gifted electronics guy so you might be right. Its possible this truck has secrets i dont know about yet
Look in the settings on the head unit and go into everything looking for android auto/apple car play.
Now I'm not certain it does it either so it may be pointless. I just know on gms if you have the 8 inch screen it has it regardless thats how my dad's silverado lt is. Basic truck with the screen and has smartphone capability. Maybe someone else will chime in too?
Sorry if this is a stupid question or has been covered elsewhere.
On my 2020 F250 with the STX package i have Sync 3-
Can Navigation be added to this so it functions like a factory nav unit or am i S*%& out of luck?
Thank you.
Sean
Factory navigation would require a NAV equipped SYC module and programming. There are sources that sell what you would need but the price would probably make you say nope. Using your phone based navigation apps will be your best bet.
All Sync 3 systems are Android and Apple capable. Plug your phone in and you can have nave on the screen along with other apps.
TA DA!!!!!!!!!!!! YEP! i just did the apple car play thing with my Phone. Thanks for the heads up. That was sooo easy.
not sure why anyone would pay for factory NAV after using this.

I just found the apps button and started using that. At least with Waze you get the same screen like on your phone, not the cartoon like screen of CarPlay. But you have to turn off CarPlay because that apps button changes to CarPlay when you plug in your phone. Something else to play around with. (I have an iPhone, not sure if Android is different.)
My truck came with factory nav. Didn't want it as it was a $800 option, but got the truck off the lot. It is terrible. I use android auto.
The factory Nav is always trying to take me down un maintained dirt roads, or wants me to pull illegal U-Turns, brings me to roads that are closed, etc. The thought of using it while towing my camper is scary. I wouldn't want to need to turn the rig around because the nav took me down some back road that is closed.

sorry to hijack, any good apps for nav that would work on the 8” screen while pulling a rv to keep you out of trouble for length and height of said rv.

I had factory Nav on my 2016 f150- it was ok. sometimes i got better directions from my wifes android when she was sitting right next to me. So i said i would never get it again.
Fortunately, this new f250 is an STX equipped rig and nav is not an option. My son introduced me to WAZE on a cross country trip recently and im hooked. That feature of labeling where all the cops are located is too cool!!!!
So Sync 3. Is that just for syncing to your smartphone for music and voice calls? Do you have to physically plug your phone into the truck with a USB cord in order to use the rest of the Carplay features? Lastly, I saw on Ford’s website that they have a partnership with Waze. Does that mean you can sync Waze off your phone without using a cord or does Waze run natively off the head unit when you have internet service turned on for your truck?
