I bought a 1992 f150 custom and noticed that it only has a single gas tank. Is this a rarity? I've never seen F150s of this era with single tanks. If i wanted to upgrade to a dual tank system how much of a pain would it be? It only has a 18 gal tank and it seems like I'm adding fuel all the time.
It'd be hassle but if you had a complete donor i guess you could do it. You'd need to swap the bed or be really good w body work for the second filler neck.
I'd run a Bronco tank in the rear. You'll need the tank, pump and pump hanger (which is typically integral with the pump itself on these OBS's). You'll have to relocate your spare and then can hang the tank with universal straps or the Bronco skidplate -- if the latter I'd still strap the tank and drop the skidplate 1/4" to create an air gap and thus no metal-on-metal rust.
I have a question I want to change the engine in my 95 f150 from a 5.0 to a 5.4 is it hard to do
Depends on how good of a mechanic you are and if you know someone at the bank and have some photos they want to be hidden or how deep your pocketbook is.
You will need a few things like a PCM for that engine, transmission that the PCM can talk to as it gets lonely talking just to the fuel and engine.
You will need the PCM that does not have the anti-theft system (97-98 or look on this site for the company that deletes that on a PCM) and a fuel pump that puts out around 60psi for the engine. Have a return line for the fuel to the tank, upgraded EGR system, wiring harness for all of this, Change your exhaust pipe at the hookup to the exhaust manifold. Yep, it can be done, just a few things that you will have to change. Up to you if it is worth the trouble and cost as this is just a small list.
