On a positive note: I chatted with the folks at buytruckwheels.com and they confirmed that both the Alcoa and Accuride 19.5" wheels for the F450 are made in America!
Now, I need to sell my Chinese wheels to someone who isn't as picky as I am and get me some wheels that I can be proud to own - Alcoa DuraBright. That, and find a tire shop that won't ding them up when mounting our tires...
Thanks man, it's risky these days to even mention politics lol.
I would go the 19.5 route too, I love the look, but I live off the beaten path and the tire choices, and as you pointed out, a knowledgeable shop, is too scarce and I would need a set of adapters to boot. I may still pick up a set of the 17" Ram wheels if I can get a good enough deal on them and throw some meaty tires on there.
It's sad really that it takes so much work to find an American Company that manufacturers their product in America. I work for a large tech company and it's no different with us or our vendors. I think Unions were, at one point in history, a great defender of employee rights, but in this day and age, all they do is hurt American Manufacturing. Honda and Toyota can build a superior product in our own country at a lower cost because they don't have to deal with the UAW and all our politicians want to do is raise the minimum wage for unskilled labor while destroying the industry that employs skilled labor
Fraud on the American People doesn't help either.
Back on topic, you can run 19.5s using the f-450 front unit bearings and hub adapters.
