Hi
i am gonna lower my truck with djm ibeams and shackle/hangers, put 20x8 wheels in the front and 20x9 in the back on f150 1976 modell
Is there anyone who know what backspace i should have on the wheels.
I was wondering about 4,5" backspace, is this ok?
I would not put 20 inch wheels on it. They look good on some vehicles, but not these trucks. If you really wanted 20 inch wheels, you'd really have to drop it more than the beams and shackles will give you; like a crown vic swap and a notched frame (and thus a big bump in the bed) for the rear.
The largest I would go with is 18 inches, still 16 inches looks better.
There are some pretty food wheel visualizers out there and one that even lets you raise and lower the vehicle, pick truck color, rims ect......not always a 79, but you can get a F100 is you run the 73-77 options to get a F100 and the basic dent side truck.

If i put 18 inch wheels on the truck and djm i beams, will the ibeam lower it enough?
I dont like a big gap between tire and fender if you know what i mean.
Depends on the look you are going for. If you want some sidewall do an 18 inch wheel and get a tire with the same circumference as the 20s you were goin to use. if you want less sidewall then 20 will do what you want. As for the rear a 4 inch drop shackle and hanger kit works fine with stock frame and trimmed bump stops. With the addition of removing the overload and bottom leaf spring. gave me about 5 inches of drop and I could bottom the axle on the frame with big bumps. I added a crown bolt in c notch kit and had no issues, and not bed modification. I actually welded it in but bolting it in would have worked fin. I can t help you on the beam question i have never used them.

Thank you for helping me with this. The pictures helped me to decide what size to choose.
Very nice car you have, loved the 20 inch.
Do you feel a big difference driving the car with the 20 inch wheels?
Do you know the backspace on the 20 wheels ?
I don't have the 20's anymore. The second picture is how my truck currently sits. I liked the proportions of the 20's and tires I had, but the 20's I had were very heavy and were made from steel rather than aluminum, believe it or not, so when I'd hit something, like a pothole, they would hit very hard and it was very jarring. If they had been aluminum I don't think it would have been a problem.
I think they were all 20x9. I'm not sure on the backspacing for them. They came off a newer Ford or Dodge that had a positive offset, which is how the newer trucks are compared to ours. They were probably something like a 5 - 5 1/2" backspacing, which is too much and my driver side wheel on the front would actually rub my radius arm at full lock. I bought the rims used for very cheap ($160) and it was an experiment to see if I liked 20's enough to buy some new ones. I already had the 17's from another truck I have, so I opted to just buy new tires for the 17's, which was a compromise, but they ride a lot better having more sidewall to help cushion. That, and they're aluminum.
I did use 1" spacers for a little bit with the 20's and that eliminated the rubbing, so I'd think somewhere around 4 - 4 1/2" backspacing would work. I think the 17's I have right now are 4 1/2" backspacing. Sorry I don't have anything more definitive than that right now. It's been a long time since I've looked at or measured any of this stuff.
If you're wanting attention, do the 20's. I had several thumbs up when I had the 20's and I've never gotten one since. lol. But I don't really care either way, it was just an observation.
