Grinding sound from front transmission

Just did an e4od swap (automatic to automatic) and now my tranny is grinding when I start it up, the truck will turn over but continues to grind, feel like it had to be starter or torque converter

Without more info.... Here is an idea.
Open up the inspection cover (bell housing). Disable the fuel / ignition so the engine will not start. Get yourself a remote starter switch (make one or buy one, 2 wires, push button switch and two alligator clips). Get under the truck with your remote starter switch and bump the engine over while looking / listening for the noise.

Both transmissions were e4ods? Because im pretty sure if tou put an e4 where a 4r70w was the flexplate has to be changed. Or the torque converter gets pushed in to the transmission too far, and wipes it out upon starting the engine

Yeap. If an E4OD transmission was installed in place of an 4R70W without swapping flexplate, the transmission was destroyed the moment the engine fired up.

As was stated earlier, we need more information on the swap.
