302 build opinions

Opinions needed here. I am building an engine for my 1962 unibody project. I have acquired 2 blocks first a 1968 302 block that had 289 heads it’s been bored 40 over and 10 over on the crank. Has a ridge on the cylinders and will need to be bored out to 60. The second is a 1979 302 block will need to be bored but not sure how much yet. Plans are so far to put a summit 347-stroker kit in with trick flow high port heads. Not sure about the cam or intake yet. Let me have your opinions .

First thought trade both of the 302's off for a 351 and dump your money into it. Potentially more reliable than the 347 and more cubes can be accomplished for less money, once you get the 351 get some standard 302 pistons with your new bore size and a 393 scat crank for $300 use new bolts in your existing 351 rods and bam you have a 393 for a lot less than you were gonna spend on the 347 kit and that includes probably the purchase of the used long block depending on your luck with trading or finding a 351, slap some decent heads and a cam intended for a built truck motor and feed it fuel and you should be one happy camper. Just my opinion though, good luck with your decision

I will second that. You will not believe the torque that thing will make. And it can be a mild tune and still run better than a high performance 347.
