Received my Ford dually center marker lamp and I’m ready to install it.
Is it ok to tap into the brown trailer plug wire, or should I use something else? I see a lot of guys using the license plate bulb wiring but man those things are THIN. I know it would probably be ok but I’m a little OCD and would prefer a bit thicker wire for tapping.
I did tap into the license plate light for the power. I had to disconnect the bulb out of the socket and then use a t-tap and spade for the connection. It was a little tight getting in there with my hands but it was do-able. I didnt want to mess with the trailer plug harness/assembly.

I like this method much better and will never worry about it ever failing. And I took every harness apart while I was back there and greased them all and put them back together so I never had to worry about water being an issue.
I tapped a wire on my 2017 and had no issues. But for the 2021 I used this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRDR...ture=emb_titleI like this method much better and will never worry about it ever failing. Wow! That’s what I was looking for. I do hate to cut the blue wire, but with the way it was put back together and taped into the existing harness it should be fine.

Any luck getting in touch with the guy for the pins, or know where to get them?
damit, every time I think I'm done messing with my truck you guys find some other nonsense I need to add
there is a guy on F150 forum who makes harnesses, I'm going to ask him if he can help and will report back
My goal was to not fuss with the large body harness, or use posi-taps. I'm working with someone to make a harness that goes between the factory license plate light plug and the harness.
Will report back.
I'm just going to snip the wire at the big white connector and use a butt connector. Easy-peasy. I have my lights here...just waiting on warmer weather
If anyone wants one of these harnesses made up for the center light, the guys email address is "wdolby AT outlook DOT com". No affiliation, I only found him because he seems to sell a lot of random super duty and F150 harnesses on ebay. He was responsive to my requests.

I ordered the pins from A Rod. But I’m curious about this harness... where exactly does it plug in? Do you transfer the factory pins into a new housing he’s providing?
I have the stuff from ARod too, but i wanted to avoid opening that body connector. With this one, it just plugs directly between the license plate LED plug and its harness plug, the center marker light is then powered off the pigtails coming off the harness.
