Rear End Noise

I am hearing a noise in the rear when I quickly excelerate. It only lasts for a second then stops. I notice this, there is no fluid on the ground.

It looks like your pinion seal is leaking. Check the fluid level and/or change fluid and open it up to check for shavings.

Replace that diff cover ASAP. Looks like it is probably paper thin and has been leaking for awhile.

not much oil in those to leak out. the lack of a puddle just means it didn't loose it all in one place.

Mine had a low shudder and a small vibration at certain speed. Turned out the pinion seal and small amount of diff lube was only a symptom of the issue. I needed to have new pinion bearings, crush collar, and seal installed in mine. All told locally it was about $350 to have that done, which was cheaper than my time to do it. That was obviously not at the dealer. The rhythmic sound I was hearing at speed got worse on a trip back from Canada, and I had it addressed asap when I returned. Don't just address the symptom since just doing a seal requires that pinion flange to be removed anyway. Oh yeah, I recall it was a worse sound when accelerating from a stop, and it was quieter at speed though there was noticeable vibration at speed.
