I’ve got an 87 F250 with the 6.9L idi and I have tried just about everything I can think of to get the glow plugs to work including replacing all the glow plugs as well as the gp relay under the air filter and changing the pushbutton switch. If I spray starting fluid it starts up just fine and as long as the coolant temperature stays relatively warm I can shut it off and on throughout the day. Help!!
he has indicated he has Manual Glow plug modification ....so it really does not matter if the light works or not depending on how it is wired....
but for sure it could be a wiring error ... and yes he should check voltage at plugs and on the Relay and also determine if the relay is even energizing when he pushes the button.
Those things are made so poorly now, lonewolf has also mentioned on this forum before about adding a diode on the output side to reduce solenoid kickback. Pretty great idea to make it last imo
well, I give REPs where deserved and I feel you should have more as you do help here a lot and what you give is good info... mine came from just helping folks as you do
I don't care about them either never asked for them and don't know WTF I got them... but I try pass them around.... I know I have helped lots of folks here but it ain't about me....it's about all of us in this group .... I sure don't have all the answers.... it's the collective that has the answers....
my advise is same take it or leave it ... I don't much care
Although last I heard TJC was locked up in the Marlboro mental hospital so I cut him some slack
i AM NOT "locked up" i can escape whenever i want to. the guards are all young pups, and have no idea there are all those underground tunnels and hidden doors around this place.

Check and make sure you have power going to the GP relay via the 2 10 guage wires in the harness at the passenger inner fender. They become corroded and sometimes won't make contact or when they do because of the high resistance will get very hot and melt. It's a common issue and was the problem I had with mine, even wired manually the solenoid would click but because of the bad connection the GP's wouldn't burn.
