Rear Passenger Warning

I picked up my truck on Friday. I've noticed this annoying alert on the Sync screen when I turn off the truck - 'Check for Rear Seat Passengers' or something to that effect.

I'm sure it has to do w/ this - https://fordauthority.com/2019/09/fo...ger-cars-2025/

But, I don't see anything in the manual about it, or any way to disable it. Can it be disabled? It comes on regardless of whether there's anyone in the back or not, so it's somewhat pointless. If I can't disable it, I will eventually get used to it and just ignore it, defeating the purpose of the alert in the first place.

This was the first question I asked on this forum too! Go into sync, under settings it's the first choice to turn off back seat reminder.
you'll also find it in the manual when you read it later, but I know how annoying this is!

Thanks. I have a '16 F150, and most of the stuff is the same, but I did flip through the manual yesterday (not specifically for this). Before posting, I searched the PDF manual and didn't find any reference to 'Rear Passenger' that addressed it.

when people leave their kids and animals in the back seats and sue the manufactures for their stupidity..you get safety lights, warning sounds, etc.

When I shut my truck off, I get out.
what is this phenomenon your speaking about?

I'm sure my 2021 speaks this language but I'm unaware to the point it's not an annoyance.

I believe that only goes off if the rear door was opened during that cycle of the vehicle.

If you turn on the backseat reminder, and open or close the rear doors at any point during that cycle, the truck will display an annoying warning on sync screen and ding when you shut the truck off.

It comes on when you turn the ignition off. Every time. These "safety" gimmicks we are saddled with are because cars are made to the level of a 3rd grade education and also so the 6th grade lawyers will be able to make a living off the 3rd graders.

You can tun it off in settings (from the middle screen) - if no one has mentioned that yet….

On my 2021 XLT I went to Settings, Vehicle. It's the second item and will then tell you that it will remind you every six months whether you want it on or off.

This feature annoyed me but haven’t looked into how it could be disabled. I now have it turned off! Thanks

I am pretty sure it will turn itself back on after about 6 months. At least mine did. I also use a lot of rental cars and mostly choose Fords cause I know the controls. I have turned it off in all of them as well.

People must be really stupid to need reminders like this. Or in other words some people should not be allowed to breed.

Not stupid, necessarily. They are more focused on their phone; texting, talking, checking facebook, shopping etc that driving is a secondary operation. Their child in the back seat is not their primary concern. I doubt that a dash warning to check the back seat will even be noticed by this type. If the driver is so distracted that they forget their child, a dash warning is not likely to get their attention.

A moving human in my locked truck would trigger the alarm. I know for sure that my dog does…..

BINGO
right in the IP in advanced settings easy as pie to turn off.
however if sync does an update OTA, it will re-engage the ON setting.
for whats it worth
