Need help confirming problem with hubs
I was driving the other day when I hear a loud screechihng/clicking sound come from the right front of the truck. I though at first I was dragging something. As I came to a stop I noticed the front axle clunking as if it had just unlocked. At this time I started to think the auto hub is starting to fail and might be causing a problem. The hubs were also a bit hot when I touched them.
The odd thing is when I started back up the noise would not reappear right away. I'm pretty sure it's just the hubs since the front end seems alright other than that noise. Any other possibilities? Thanks.

Confirm that it is the hub....go from 2wd to 4wd and back a few times to see if you can get the sound to happen again. Or you can take the hub apart to look for pieces. Either way...its a good idea to switch to manual hubs. Not expensive and alot better than the damn Auto hubs.
