Headlight switch not illuminated?

Headlight switch not illuminated?
I have a 1997 F150 XLT Supercab 4.6L v8. My headlight switch is not illuminated when the headlights are on. Should it be? If it is illuminated then it has been burnt out for a long time. Just changed the instrument panel bulbs on my wife's 2000 Excursion and her headlight switch is illuminated.

If the schematics are to be believed, the headlight switch should be illuminated any time the ignition switch is in RUN or ACCY.

On my 2001 XL only the fog light indicator illuminates when in use.

The fog light indicator is not the subject of the question at hand.

Besides, your '01 uses a different headlight switch than doers the '97.

What do the schematics say about the power window switches and power door lock switches?

The cruise control buttons don't seem to have any slots for lights to shine through although I wish they did. When I drive at night everything is dark except for the instrument panel lights but I know several bulbs are burnt out.

Window, door lock and speed control switches are all fed off the same dimmer circuit (in parallel with) as the instrument cluster illumination.

So you're saying that my switches should be illuminated but since mine aren't it is because I have some burnt out bulbs.

Either that or no ground to the system. If they work and the lights not on then the bulbs need replacing.
