Can anyone get me the parts breakdown (factory illustration) of the radiator and hose assembly. Specifically, I'm trying to see how the factory shows the lower radiator hose on a 71 F100. 302 engine, m/t, no a/c, but with factory extra cooling radiator. I have the correct molded lower radiator hose (according to Gates) and it just isn't fitting right. Tried installing it in both directions and not pleased with the fit.
Is it too long? Generally I think that some have to be cut off to fit sometimes.
It does seem a little long. And it will fit (poorly) both ways. I assume the "s" shaped end goes on the water pump outlet to clear the a/c belt or pulley. I'm getting 2 3/4" across the top of the radiator assuming I'm measuring it correctly, which would indicate I have the extra cooling factory radiator.
I'll have to get back to you with that on Friday as my radiator is at the shop getting cleaned and a pinhole soldered up. According to my factory service manual though, both the xtra cooling and standard radiators are the same length and width. Only the thickness is different.
