2010 Expy 5.4
Just picked up 2010 Expedition with 5.4; and 4WD. 122K miles. Ex Sheriff rig. There is a clear noise on the right side on start up which goes away after a couple of minutes. My mechanic thinks left exhaust manifold leaks and quiets after the parts heat/swell. However, I was crawling around under the car while it was running, and this noise sounds more metallic, like its in the engine. Like a lifter not getting pumped up. So what is the most likely failure mode on the 5.4(3V I think)? It runs good; idles smooth. Just put 800 miles on it at 70mph and it did about 16.2 with 3.73 rear end.
