Its funny. My truck has them. Came that way off the lot. I am glad I have them. Everyone I know that doesn't have them, commented after seeing mine, that they want to add them. Different strokes indeed!
I like that my SRW doesn't have them. Just another thing to leak, break, burn out, ect. Plus I don't think I could drive into my garage without taking down the garage door seal. I like my garage but it's way too short.
You're right, it seems like a lot of work, so I'm going to ignore them for another couple months.
It's just a preference thing. They're not needed for my application, and when I walk up to my truck and see them on, I think, 'I can't believe I spent that much money on something that lights up like a garbage truck'. Different strokes, and all that.
Wow, I'm kinda pissed my truck doesn't have them, sometimes I think I'm still driving a 150 when I don't see those lights on, wanna trade?
It's a 2020 King Ranch with LED head and tail lamps, so I presume the roof lights are, too.
Just look at the videos on cab light installs and you'll see where the harness is located. You could either unclip the harness or wire something to an aux switch to toggle them as need.
Sorry not really helpful, but curious why would you want to turn them off? What harm are they causing? Seems like alot of work just to turn off some lights that don't effect anything other then adding some light to the roof where you don't see it driving..Could be as simple as preference, but 'm just curious if there is more to it.
If you do astrophotography and are at a dark sky location you are not supposed to create any extraneous light. Opening my door to get anything from the truck gets me yelled at big time! Wish I could temporarily turn all the running lights off when I open my door.....
Use a blown fuse in the fuse box. Tap each leg with wire leads to a new inline fuse holder and a toggle switch. Simple and easy and no damage when it is time to reverse the "mod"
