There is a reputable Ford dealer near me from whom I have bought several vehicles. There is also a few miles further a AutoNation Ford dealer which as a chain of dealers sells a heck of a lot of cars. Several hundred trucks in their nationwide inventory,
Anyone have any experience with ordering a truck through a AutoNation Ford dealer/branch?
I ordered my 2017 through my local AutoNation Ford. It was a very good purchase experience. However, the Internet Sales Manager that I went through is no longer there. Subsequent to his departure, I referred a couple of forum members there and they didn't get very good service. I think it all comes down to the person you're dealing with.
The finance guy kept trying to sell me an AutoNation extended warranty instead of the real Ford warranty. I was clear on what I wanted and how much I would pay, considering what I could get from one of the Internet sources. The finance guy didn't even try to come close. Their service went downhill a few months after the sale. I had to complain to get anything done. Next purchase will likely be from a different dealer.
Don't know if this is helpful at all but, bought the wife a Toyota Highlander from Autonation Toyota here in Tempe, AZ. Have bought dozen's of vehicles through the years but, this was our first time ever buying from an Autonation dealer. I have to say, it was probably one of the best experiences we have had purchasing a vehicle. After doing my research, I walked in and told them what I wanted for my trade and what I would pay for the vehicle. I was pretty aggressive with my offer and, within minutes, they shook my hand and we did the paperwork. Next time I am in the market for a vehicle, I plan to give them another opportunity to earn my business.
I am in for the same opinions. I have been dealing with an AutoNation dealer in GA that has a truck I'm interested in. The internet/phone/text/email experience has been lackluster at best and I was quickly shuffled off to a guy that clearly is either new or not very good at what he does.
In searching I also found an AutoNation Ford in Memphis which is much closer. Here is where it gets interesting. A local dealer to me can't get the truck transferred to him or even traded for it. They won't even return his calls. The Memphis location said they could have the truck by Monday earlier today. So far in my limited experience with the Memphis dealership they have been really good with responding and getting what I needed. My local dealer wants me to order the truck through them. I don't mind the wait but I've had to give great pause to whether or not it matters to have bought the truck locally. I didn't on my 18. I have done all of my own service work and any Ford dealer can do warranty work so I don't see any reason why it would a risk to not use a local dealer that is a revolving door of people anyways. Just sucks you can't build a relationship with a person at a dealership since they turn over staff so often.
Sorry to ramble. These are the thoughts that run through my head.
