FE 360 Insights needed

A friend suggested that I convert back to a 2V carb on my 360 from the Edelbrock 1405 600CFM carb. He suggested that for my use, a 4V carb is not needed.
These are the parameters:
1965 F100 4x4 - 360
3.50 Rear
33" tires.
NP435 - 4 speed.
Use: Commuting, towing a 12' 1962 small Shasta camper.

he also said consider a 302. Posted the questions about the 302 in the Small Block forum.
Would like your opinions.

While the 1405 is not my pick I wouldn't go back to a 2v. Your only going to use as much CFM as your foot gives it, I think a 302 belongs in a car.

Sounds like you need different friends or his he just wanting the stuff you'll be taking off.
302 isn't going to make the torque a 360 makes, now if he was saying to stroke it out to a 390 or 410 he's a pretty cool guy.

I’m keeping the 360. Wasn’t sure if I was not understanding or missing something in his idea. Can’t see how a 302 would be an improvement or worth the trouble to replace it.

I agree with the others... 302, lol, I'd go with a 300 first. Years ago I replaced the 2V manifold with a 4V and a 635CFM Holley on my stock 352 and the difference was impressive. No way I'd go back.

It would definitely be smarter in the long run to keep the 360 with more torque and horsepower options down the road. I added the Edelbrock 4-barrel intake, 4-barrel Holley 600cfm carburetor, petronix ignition, and new plugs and wires to wake mine up (71' f250 with 360/4speed). Next move is headers and mini-torque starter...then start saving for the 445 Stroker Kit down the road. Not naysaying friends and family, but always do the research yourself because you'll be the one living with the results.
