snorkel question

i had this question in the 4.0 section but here go s..i have a square cover on my cold air snorkel just behind my grill and just thinking taking it off to let more forced air to enter. i dont know if this is a good idea to remove or just leave it on. it looks like a shield with two large slots for the air to pass through. anyone tried this?

Ram Air is an old trick that does work. When you take off that protective cover, try replacing it with some screen mesh to keep the bugs out. Don't forget about it when you are power washing your truck though.

thanks

Dealford thanks for the pep . i will remember to keep the water out from washing the front end. i will have to cover the area before hand. so i guess its the old fashioned way like we used to do in our 70s cars uh. it was funny when i was looking at that cover and wonder what gain if any to have forced cold air into the motor..more air =horse power..well i better fit a screen on thanks again
