2017 F250 mirror adjustment issues

Has anyone had any issues adjusting their mirror? My passenger mirror won’t really adjust down unless I adjust it left-down-right-down etc. it moves up fine.

Do I need to replace the motor or could it just be dirty? I’m at 37k miles and just out of the bumper to bumper warranty. I do have the CPO extension until 48k miles with a $100 deductible.

My drivers side is useless in winter time, it moves a couple mm at a time. I have to go up down and to the side I'm trying to adjust it to repeatedly to get it to move where I want. Sometimes have to physically move it by hand while operating the switch. Works fine in summer tho.

Thats interesting. I wonder if it’s because of the cooler temperatures. I might start taking it apart and see if it’s a motor issue or a lubrication issue.

did anyone figure out how to fix the mirror. My driverside mirror isn't wanting to move down after I washed it this evening. Should I replace the mirror motor for roughly $100 that moves the glass?
or should I swap out of my 22 f450, then take it in for warranty🙂?

I ended up taking it in to the dealer under the CPO warranty. It costed me $100 but all they did was replace the motor. My drivers side is now failing and I’m at about 70k miles so I will replace the motor myself fir this one.

if it weren’t such a pain in the butt, I’d totally swap it with the ‘22 and let Ford replace it.

I just got back from looking at it. Very easy to remove the glass, just pull it and the metal clips pop out. Watch the blind spot and heater cord. I put some WD-40 on the motor and turned it in and out, up and down about 30 times. It freed it up to where it works pretty well now. Only binds if you take it all the way down, or all the way in and then out. I never go that far so it not an issue.
that being said, if it acts back up its so easy to remove, and the motor is 2 or 3 screws I will swap with the f450 then take it in for warranty. I could swap it with my f450 in about 10 mins.
Here is the link I followed.

So Kameron, you were able to lube the motor without taking it out of the mirror housing? Where would i squirt the lube in exactly?

no, I had to remove the glass out to lube the motor. It's really easy to pull the glass out, you will not break it, as long as you use common sense and pull it slowly and evenly. Once the glass is out you will see a dome motor. I used WD40 with white lithium grease and sprayed it. Then moved the mirror adjuster switch and watched the motor ball move around. I since sold that truck to my dad, and I will still drive it occasionally. It is still working great a few weeks ago. Granted the truck has always lived in a garage out of the weather. But the only way to fix it is pop the glass out.

Watch the video I posted in #7, there is a small flat provision for a flat blade screw driver behind the mirror glass. Insert the screw driver and twist the blade DO NOT pry it, just twist and the glass will be free

Well, that didn't do it. Glass off both mirrors and lubed with wd 40 and white lithium. They both move right and up fine. Down and left are a problem. There is power to all directions as i can hear the motor working and it tries to move them slightly. Coincidence that both motors are bad with the same symptoms? Surely not the switch right? Since the mirrors are getting power? It's not the little tabs, because they are failing with the glass off. What next??

my drivers side had that same issue. I had to work on it for about 30 mins, I would spray with wd40 with lithium grease, drive the motor down and help assist it by pushing it with my finger. I would then spray it in the far left and down position really good. Drive the motor back straight and assist it with my fingers a little and take it to the far up and right position, I repeated this method 10-15 times and each time it improved a little. I finally got it working without assistance.
I will say, in the very far down position and left position it would still get stuck. But I discovered that I never move my mirror way out to the left or way down when adjusting the mirrors for towing, or back to city driving. It now would work with my memory seats, when I adjust. Also mine worked great till I had washed it and sprayed the glass. I realized it didn't work and shortly later on I did this procedure.

That being said if you still cant get it to work to the point it works in your city driving amd towing setting, you can buy replacement motors for them online for not much money.
