Can someone help me identify

What is that in the top right of the engine bay it looks like a solenoid but I have no clue what it does.

What year is your truck? Here's a excerpt from a 1981 diagram that shows a solenoid over there for a auxiliary battery.

I'm curious. I see the one large wire just terminates to a frayed end. Where does the small wire go? Looks like it heads into the cab. A switch under the dash maybe? And what about the other side of the solenoid? I have no idea what the solenoid is for..... but I'm still curious. Please reply if you figure it out.
