I had to figure this out. I lock the truck with my dog in it. The horn kept beeping.
Afterwards I realized what it was asking me, when it asked me what system i wanted energized.
Darrrrrrrrrrrn, dang dog. Every once in awhile I forget to hit perimeter only on exit, it can be embarrassing. Usually if I forget I remember 6 paces from the truck and turn back, key on, key off, select.............. Darn dog. (Dane)
Part of the alarm system detects motion and sound.
Motion and I believe glass breakage. I don't know what kind of sensor detects that..... I don't believe talking inside when armed sets it off... Maybe frequency, have no clue how that's done.
So of course I had to test. All sensors selected. I locked the doors while I was inside. Waited for the courtesy lights to go out and I couldn’t get the alarm to go off. Waved my hands in front of the sensors. Yelled. Nothing. How else can I test this?
update: Nevermind. I left the rear window open and armed the system. Unlocked the rear door and opened and alarm went off. Also rearmed and tried waving a paper through the window. Scared the crap out of me for some reason but that worked too..
if your windows are down and the alarm is set, it will trigger if someone reaches into the truck.
I can attest to that. Tried to see if I could unlock door with window down, alarm went off with hand going in and not pulling door handle. I forgot this scenario thou what if it's set for perimeter only , you leave window down, it's armed and you pull up handle or hit unlock button from inside with a key system. My guess is alarm would go off upon hitting unlock or inside door handle.
Now if only it could work from people messing with it from the outside.
I remember in the manual when armed and activity outside is near it will turn on I think the manual said security lights which I imagine would be puddle lights at a minimum. I have yet to try ( I am rarely out after 6).
I have rocked it, beat on the windows, pulled the door handles and nothing. I even took the 98 and bumped the hitch to give it a good bump and it did nothing.
