A Jackson County roll tide dent

Kidding. Going to be a nice truck. Has rust in all the right places for an Alabama truck. My 77 has hood rust in pretty much the same place. I reckon sitting over the battery all those years helps corrode the metal. I don’t know what else to do other than replace it. Parts for dents are hard to come by around here. They’ve either long been crushed or are in worse shape than what you have.

Good luck with the project, I’ll be following along

I didn't know they sold four gallon buckets of sunflower seeds. Wow!

Man, that truck is perfectly solid in all of the right places. The bed floor looks like it might not have any holes too.

I'm kind of surprised at the rust on the driver's door, but it looks like varmints could've gotten in the door through the missing speaker grill, and made a nest which trapped moisture. I'm guessing that the rust on the hood is because of the battery.

Are you going to put a Crown Vic front end in it?

That sticker will be coming off soon...my wife went to Auburn, so did a lot of my money. I want to keep as many original panels as possible, so I will probably patch the hood and then buy a lower door patch panel. I am amazed at how tight the doors still are on this truck, well any older Ford for that matter

The sunflower seeds came from Sam's, lol...I have 2 boys that play baseball, so they go through the seeds. The door puzzles me as well. The truck stayed outside all of it's life as far as I can remember. I had it in an open shed behind a pond for about 10 years. The bed is pretty solid, with minimal rust at the rear right in front of the tailgate.
I have debated the Crown Vic front end, but can't decide. I am kinda leaning towards Dream Beams. I haven't been able to find a Crown Vic swapped dent that doesn't look a little off. I don't know if it's the wheels people are running or what. The bumps with that set-up look great.

This is the look I am shooting for. I talked to the owner about the suspension set-up. Beams with a C-notched axle flip rear

I found this while I was cleaning the frame today. The VIN is stamped into the frame

Removing the factory rivets

This is a lot harder than I anticipated

One rivet loose...lots of penetrating oil. I’ll let it soak overnight and try again tomorrow

Wonderful pictures! This is where I am going with my next project, also a '76 F-100. Of course I have to finish my '76 F-150 first so there are lessons here that will be of more immediate use. I was impressed that you lifted the cab with doors still attached.
Question: Are you thinking about stripping all paint and rust from cab and bed via dipping, blasting or whatever? What's the plan there? I'm inclined toward the dipping solution b/c there is a facility that does that which isn't that far away but ... questions and doubts abound.

The short answer is "I don't know yet" ...like you said questions and doubts abound.
I had the Mustang that you can see in some of the pictures media blasted. It worked really good and didn't warp any panels. There are pros and cons to both. The one thing I didn't like about the media is I can still get some of it out of the frame rails. That was done about 10 years ago. I have heard that you have to neutralize the acid after it gets dipped(not sure how accurate that is). I don't know of anywhere close to me that does that, so I would probably go the blasting route again...
I almost want to fix the rust issues and clear it like it sits. I am torn on the direction that I really want to go. I will probably get the frame completed to make it a roller again, cab rust repair, engine/transmission, then move on to cab(wiring, interior, air, etc) I want the interior to be really nice. Good luck with both projects.

Re-arranging the shop getting ready for the frame to get back from powder coating

Torn the rear end down for blasting and coating. Then rebuild and put it all back together
