So I’m gonna explain this the best I can and hope for good answers. I was wiring in a 3rd brake light the other day and caught a glimpse of something strange in the left corner closest to the back of the bed. It’s a light of some sort with a glass cover and it has a place to plug into the actual bed harness but I couldn’t get it to work, even after adding a new wire split to the same area. Does anyone know what this could be for and if it was a dealer or factory option??
I am pretty familiar with the wiring diagram for these trucks, and so far I have never seen a option for a light at the rear of the bed. Not sure what would even activate it.
Well she’s an 81 f350 if that helps any. And it’s set too far back and right under the bed plate on one of the crossmembers/braces. It’s very strange and the weirdest part is that both the glass cover and plate have ford stamps on them
I can post a pic in the morning of where it’s located but sadly a cousin got to the glass when I wasn’t looking and broke it.
Rear bumpers were an option so it is not uncommon to find the harness and sometimes the lamp in the location you are looking at.
probably yours recieved a bumper or step bumper upgrade at the dealership
