Primer type questions

I am getting ready to prime the cowl of a 75 f250. Normally I would spray it with an epoxy primer, but since it is galvanized I'm wondering if I need to first cover it with a self-etching primer. There will be small areas of bondo. Most of the surface will be bare metal, with possibly small areas of paint.
How should I proceed?

As far as I know, bare metal should always get etching primer on it first. But I'm not sure if the galvanizing negates this or not.

They are really tough to find right now, esp. small pistol primers.

Wait, what? Never mind.

Epoxy primer if there is anything but bare metal. Especially if you might need to do any other repair work.

Epoxy primer and etching primer are both made to bond to bare metal. Because it’s galvanized you could skip them and go right to regular primer. Personally I’d epoxy prime that area just for added protection.

Haven't used them but I have seen primers especially made for galvanized, believe they had a high zinc content to bond to the galvanized?
