I was just given a 1996 E-350 extended Club wagon that my father had in storage for 3 or 4 years.
The battery was dead, and had to replace that to get the odometer reading for the registration transfer (actually it's on the charger, so haven't got the mileage yet..).
I preparation for getting this running, I see that I really should prime the oil-pump prior to turning the motor over. Has anyone done this on an E-350 with the 351 Cleveland motor? is it going to even be possible to get the distributor out without pulling the motor, or am I looking at a massive project to even get the motor running?
It a 351w. It's very likely the in-tank fuel pump will be dead or weak on a truck that sat that long so definitely check fuel pressure. The distributor will come out once you have enough stuff out of the way but you have to put the motor at TDC on cyl #1 first, and then take note of the body and rotor position before pulling it so that it can go back the exact same way.
