2020 f150 xlt want to upgrade headlights. Can i just replace halogen bulbs with led? Or should I but new housings with bulbs? Any recommendations of where to look and maybe part numbers?
Check out Headlight Revolution. They have tested various bulbs and offer what they believe are the best for each vehicle they offer them for. LEDs work well in F150 housings. I’ve noticed that the 2021 F150 Will offer LEDs in reflector housings on XLTs and base Lariats. The higher packaged trucks will get LED projector housings. The current LED arrays are gone. I plan to use LED bulbs when I need to replace mine. Bulbs are serviceable. LED Arrays like OEM, Morimoto and Allpha Rex are not, and they’re quite pricey. They are nice though. Don’t buy cheap hosings then stick cheap LED bulbs in then. You wont like it and neither will anyone around you at night.
I was looking at headlight revolution but there are so many options, I need something that is all in one package. Bulbs housing everything. This is so confusing but my halogens suck lol

Have you tried adjusting them? I know mine were way off. After adjustment the halogens were 100% better. Easy to do and instructions are in the OM.
I put in a set of GTR LIGHTING CSP MINI LEDs back when they called them "PerfectFit Mini". They're about $130 for a pair. The light is very much whiter than halogen, and the cut-off is more crisp. The Feds have gotten after many of the sellers of these types of bulbs, as they don't work properly in every type of headlight housing. IMO, they work better in F150 headlight housings, at least for 2015 through 2018.
These particular ones fit inside the headlight enclosure without any modification, and they also burn about 1/3 the power (16 watts versus 45 watts for halogen), in addition to being almost twice as bright, way whiter, and have a more sharp cut-off.
The F150 housings focus light very well. My headlights were poorly adjusted when I got the truck. It took me 3 tries to get them just right, because of that tightly focused beam pattern. That's why the LED bulbs work so well in these housings.
I think I am going to just get bulbs and put them in the housings i have. I see ford has a set of fogs for my truck too. Might see if dealer can get me some led headlights for my housings
Ive been eyeing headlight revolutions ultra 2, but man the price aint cheap wow. To fully do up the truck your looking at well over $500 bucks
I wonder if the LED low beams would be so bright you wouldnt even need the high beams anymore?
i was wondering that as well. Correct me if i am wrong but the low beams are also theDRL right? So for my truck high low and fog is 600 not including shipping to Canada
It’s not how bright they are, but where the cutoff is. I live in a rural area full of deer and hogs begging to die, so I like high beams to reach way out there.
I have a 2020 f150 xlt and could not see with the halogen bulbs it came with. My work vehicle and our other vehicles have LEDS so i think I have gotten used to that color spectrum. In the pictures, the leds are installed in the passenger side and are still halogen in the driver side. low beams top. high beams bottom. I squatted down to height of headlights when i took pics. I ended up adjusting them a little later.
These have good cutoff and depth on bright. Even though the fog light bulb is a different brand, it has the same color which was important to me. Research wise, these were a better bang for the buck. I run the MARSAUTO brand in my f250s but could not find them in the right size for this truck.
FYI, you have to remove the screws from the inner fender to change them but it is not terrible. I also added aftermarket heated seats to the rear because my son missed them. We had them in our expedition that we traded off.

I replaced both the high beam and the low beam. The low beam works very well in our very rural area. That said, adding the light from the high beam really lights up the world, and is very much appreciated during the rutting season.
