I had my 351w bored .40 over about 5 years ago, I am wanting to put stronger pistons in the engine for future power upgrades. Needing advice on what pistons I'll need and what other internals I may need.
Are you going to use a turbo or some sort of blower or other boost on the engine? Then you will need forged or hypereutectic piston. You will need to know the chamber size of the heads you will be using, and with a boosted engine you will want to keep the compression ratio low depending on how much boost you will run.
If you are not going to run boost, you will need to know the future heads you will run and their chamber size. You can then order the pistons with the compression ratio you will need which will be determined by the head chamber size and the pistons. Again, forged or hypereutectic are your stronger pistons options. The forged pistons need a lot of bore clearance, so they can be a little noisy on a cold engine. The hypereutectic need less clearance. Forged are the strongest.
