Rear window quit defrosting, Dealer checked it, has voltage across the whole thing but it only defrosts the driver side. It worked fine last year, no obvious damage at all.
Glad to hear they are getting it replaced for you. The passenger side on mine is the only side that defrosts, the other areas have visible defects in the grid lines. I took it in when I first noticed it, at around 3k mi.. The tech confirmed the faulty grid lines and I was told they needed to get Ford approval. Several months later no word from the dealer or Ford, now I'm told they would need to start the process from scratch. I think I'll just live with it.
What year and miles on the truck when you took it in?
Mine looks just like the OP. Dealership had to order the glass two times because they were sent aftermarket product instead of OEM. It's scheduled to be replaced the first week in January.
Most are made by screen printing a conductive ink onto the glass which can sometimes leave voids during the printing process. For those that are out of warranty, there are several defroster repair kits available to correct the continuity of the grid.
