was thinking of getting a 6,4 trans pan for my 03 6.0,,and the pt180 filter..was wondering if the shift solenoids should be replaced /upgraded or serviced..not really a trans guy..when talking to ed at ficmrepair.com he suggested doing it..has anyone done this ??is it worth the cash..?supposedly not a big deal to do ..any info or input would be helpful thanks in advance
Listening to the resident retired Ford transmission expert on here, the solenoids can be left out of the money vacuum.
so you recommend NOT doing the solenoids..i have no trans shifting problems at all..dont want to create problems i dont need..transmissions scare me anyway.. should i leave toilet paper filter in also?? Just changed it to be safe since it is a relatively new buy..
FWIW
I did the pan/filter upgrade a few years ago. Kept the TP filter in. Did not do any solenoids. I watched the video ,IIRC, got it in the tech folder part of this forum. Pretty straight forward. I did the full flush.
