Door closure adjustment?

Both doors suck at closing, but I have to slam the driver door repeatedly to get it past the "latched" but not completely closed situation where the door isn't flush with the body. Is there an adjustment on that mechanism? It's not obvious to me...

If your doors line up with the body ok you can adjust the striker plate on the B-pillar.

Harley:
The adjustment on the striker isn’t necessarily intuitive. When the door sits “proud”, it may seem like the striker needs to be moved inward, but it may actually be too far inward, not allowing the door latch to reach the second “click” of the latching action. Make sure the latch is working first, and the “star” catch clicks and holds when you rotate it by hand. Its not a bad idea to take off the striker and check that the door closes properly, without interference and is aligned properly in the opening. Install the striker and check the alignment with the door latch guide visually. Now close the door slowly into the striker and listen for two clicks. Don’t slam the door. Close it slowly and just lean on it a little. If you can only get one click with some pressure, the striker needs to be moved outward. If you hear two clicks and the door isn’t in all the way, then the striker needs to be moved inward. Try to keep the striker level so that it neither lifts, nor depresses the door. Do all this without slamming the door...its a passive fit! Only tighten all the screws when all the adjustment is done. Slamming the door throws the striker out of adjustment. Close slowly, watch and listen to what’s happening. You can dust the striker with some talcum powder if you want to see where the door guide is aligning. I hope the detailed explanation helps!

Great tips. I'll keep trying, the striker definitely needs to move outward

Good luck with that Harley. Also, you should have the shims which help hold the striker in position and align it with the star gear on the door latch. The star shouldn’t bind on the forward side of the striker...make sure there’s a little clearance there....
