Is anyone running an dedicated on board air setup or a train horn setup to inflate and deflate their airbags? As opposed to an airbag specific compressor setup like the Airlift wireless one. If so could you share some details? Thank you.
I had a dual comp with 3 gal tank on my 2012 F-150, air bags, train horn, and remote quick coupler. I didn't put on my 2018 F-150 but I am thinking about doing it again with when my 21 F-250 gets here. This time I would like to put the compressor and tank in the pickup box, prior it was under frame and it was a mess to deal with when servicing even draining the tank from time to time, I also live in the mid-west where they soak the roads with brine all winter long (the tank was showing rust within 2 years) and I live on gravel rds. But I also am getting a truck cap for it so it will really be sheltered if I place in the box. I do miss having the remote quick coupler it was used quite a bit. And having the bags to level out when hauling a heavy load was great and made that truck handle it better with a heavy load. Another side benefit was the train horn that would get the attention of someone messing with there phone and drifting into my lane! This new truck being a 250 should handle the loads better to start off with but I am also getting bigger trailers with bigger loads. I have been looking at the Klein package, (the first one was a Frankenstein that I pieced together it worked but there was issues that took me a couple of months to sort out) The Klein is pricey but it may be worth it to have a package that is all there, however It is designed to be under the frame so maybe not. I am interested to see also what others have done. Good luck!
I've been looking for the same thing. Thought I had found the best setup for me but in the reviews they mention lots of missing hose, fittings, etc. needed to make this system work as well as needing brackets to mount the tank and air comp. I called Stage3 and they weren't much help identifying what else would be needed for my 2018 F250 even though the YouTube video that was shared shows this exact system being installed on same exact truck. So I'm still looking for the moment as well. I don't need the horns but I do want the bags and oba vs having to move a portable compressor in and out of the cab when my dog is with me. The difference in cost is only a couple hundred bucks to go this route vs a bag/comp system and a portable comp. Labor I'm sure is more but I have not been able to get definitive answers on that either. https://www.stage3motorsports.com/17...ng-System.html
I did a pair of Viair 480 compressors. Mounted under the bed, outboard of the frame with a 3 gallon tank under the rear door and a 5 gallon tank above the driveshaft.
I have a thread on it here but lost my links for it.
You knocked it out of the park with that build. Amazing. I really only need an Airlift single path cheap compressor setup. I have a portable Viair in a bag setup I carry in the trailer. Of course the more I thought about it I then decided I wanted air horns again and might as well plumb it for OBA. I guess I’m just questioning is there a simple/clean control interface I could hide in the center console. I wonder if I could adapt the airlift analog gauge/toggle setup to control an addition valve plumbed into the train horn tank?
I can get the Airlift wireless ONE right now for $275. Far cry from train horns and dedicated OBA but for the price maybe I should just stick with what I need.
